Alexander McQueen’s death last week shocked the fashion world and left many asking the question,”Can anyone carry this dynamic line forward?” There have been greats in the past such as Gianni Versace whose names were able to survive despite an untimely demise, but can anyone truly recreate such an eccentric and well crafted line. From antler ears, black lipstick, and unconventional veils to the now famous armadillo heel, it’s all GENIUS.
I am such a fan of McQueen that I will not attempt to give the horrific details of his death. I will say that it is quite possible that he died of a broken heart and an unwillingness to face another tomorrow. He made a decision on the eve of his mothers funeral that he nor anyone else can take back. I admire his work (to say the least) and I hope to one day have the opportunity to create looks that I style which express even a small portion of the creativity and love that he had for his designs.
This is my form of tribute to Alexander McQueen and I will keep you posted regarding what I know will be an outpouring from all who respected and eagerly anticipated his next creation. He will truly be missed.
